“After much debate we made the decision to tear down our small, seasonal lake cottage and replace it with a permanent house. We couldn’t be happier with that decision and we owe it all to the fabulous job that was done by JDF Builders. Friends and family who had built new homes warned us to expect the whole process to be very stressful and intimidating. That could not have been further from the experience that we enjoyed while our project was being completed. From the initial planning phase to our completed home everyone involved was wonderful to work with.
Jay and his architect used their years of experience to create a house plan that worked perfectly for our needs and budget. They really listened to what was important to us and made sure that the plan reflected that. Building on a lake brings additional restrictions and permitting issues. We were very glad to have Jay on our team to deal with those headaches.
All throughout the build we were kept informed of what to expect next. The communication was great. We always knew who would be working on what and when they would be there. There are so many choices to be made in the home building process. Jay made sure that we had the information we needed well ahead of time so that no decision ever felt rushed. He was always available to answer questions and share his knowledge with us so we could be confident in our selections.
Sticking to the planned budget is definitely something that Jay takes seriously. Every detail is figured in before the project is started so there are no big surprises later on. The products and finishes that are quoted are ones that have proven themselves to him already. We never felt like we had to worry about making upgrades to get a superior end product.
One of the main characteristics we feel that distinguishes JDF Builders from different contractors is their insistence on quality. This was carried through with every tradesperson that worked on our home. It’s very apparent that the same high standard that Jay sets for himself is expected from others as well. This was especially reassuring in our situation, since we weren’t on the job site daily.

“We just wanted to express our deepest appreciation and gratitude for the amazing work that was done on our home by you and all those you employ. After getting a referral from a friend, we immediately called and summoned your expertise. We had consulted with other contractors but from the get go had no lasting impression and they didn’t seem interested. And there was you Jay. You came, gave us ideas, and from the first meeting seemed so easy to work with and committed to what you do. I can’t say enough, having a kitchen torn up is never easy to deal with. But with about 2 weeks, we survived. You made it easy. We heard stories of contractors not showing up, not completing the work, etc. This was our first experience, and we are thankful it was so wonderful. You and all your subs were always on time and got the work done. And there were no periods of things not getting done. It was amazing. My kids enjoyed all the workers here too, very kind, patient and committed to what they’re doing. You have a talent at what you do, and your pride shows in your work. I was amazed at how serious you took things and it just shows in your craftsmanship. The addition to the room upstairs was a breeze as well, always cleaned up at the end of the day, so there was no horrendous mess that we had to deal with. I know that when someone asks me for a referral for a builder/contractor, your name comes up, and we are committed to passing the work on to you because nowadays it’s hard to find dedicated and responsible people like you.

“We have recently put an addition on our home. We added a new dining room with a deck leading to the pool. We decided in addition to the dining room and deck, to include a transformation to the whole front of the house. JDF Builders designed the plans for our project.
